New Delhi: Maharashtra Election Results 2024 Live Updates: Maharashtra voted with enthusiasm, recording a turnout not seen in the last three decades. The vote count saw the Mahayuti Party (BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP) come to power.
These elections were a test for both Shiv Sena and NCP as divisions emerged in the wake of the riots. Despite the clear victory of Mahayuti, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis said the two parties would discuss the next Chief Minister.
The mostly peaceful elections were marred by a multi-million dollar Bitcoin scam in the name of Patole and NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule. Additionally, Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Vinod Tawde was accused of vote-rigging, with the opposition claiming he had distributed Rs 50 million.
Devendra Fadnavis wins Nagpur South West seat, vote share falls compared to 2019 elections Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and senior Bharatiya Janata Party politician, won the assembly election from Nagpur South West defeating his Congress rival Prafulla Gudade Patil by a margin of 39,710 votes. Fadnavis got 129,401 votes and Patil 89,691. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party star’s lead narrowed by 9,643 votes compared to the 2019 elections. This is his fourth time winning from this seat. This is Fadnavis’ sixth assembly election victory. He won the Nagpur West title in 1999 and 2004.
